hydralic lifter
Ive got a 1991 explorer thats loseing water im thinking cracked head or gasket my question is while im in there ive got some bad lifters that need to be changed out will that help the lifter noise or wear out the camshaft ive got more heads but the new lifter old camshaft bothers me i can get an other engine for 400 exchange any ideas thanks

Well if you can do the work yourself you may be better to change the motor. Using a new lifter on an old cam is not a good idea.Unless it is a roller style lifter than its no prob. You would have to check that out. If it is not a roller style camshaft i would change the motor.By the time you buy gaskets,headbolts, get heads machined etc. you will have a good amount of money invested in a motor with bad lifters.
