Excursion Fires?

I've been waiting for Ford to recall my Ex for the famous brake/cruise control related fire problem...the one that burns down peoples houses. I went to Ford and they sold me a kit that fixes the problem. They said it would fit my truck but I can't seem to find where the parts fit. Anyone done this yet or could provide a link? Thanks.

I can't help you with the installation but I would expect that FOrd would want to do the install if this is a recall issue. I would also expect that you would want them to do it if there is a possibility of fire. If they just gave you the new kit and sent you on your way, I would find a new dealer.

My 2 cents

i was going to say that , if it does happen to catch fire then they will not admit liability if you did the repair even if they gave you the parts for it.

they didnt do the repair, YOU DID !!, dont touch it m8 & keep pestering them to do it.

thats 4 cents worth now

Well I don't think Ford will ever recall the Excursion for this because there's not enough of them on the road. I could be wrong and hope I am, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't build me a new house either. I'm going to do the mod. It's only 20 bucks. I just thought someone out there might have done it as well.

There is a recall, let Ford perform it. It doesn't matter how many they built, if their on the road and the publics safety is in jeopardy they have no choice but to recall the vehicle. Do you have a diesel or a gas engine because if you have diesel it is not included in the recall.
Heres the recall.

Okay the diesel is not included. Is that because the switch is different or because they havn't included it yet?
