lost throttle response from 351W

i had to replace the fuel pump and went with a holley electric pump. i'm showing around 5.5psi of fuel pressure at idle. if i ease into the throttle, it's fine, but if i stomp it, it just boggs and will even cut off. what gives?!

Maybe you've got a clogged filter, or a bit of crud in the carburetor which is partly clogging a main jet.
Are you able to check the fuel pressure reading when the engine powers out?
Why did you use an electric fuel pump?

i went with an electric pump because it was easier than replacing the eccentric and the mechanical pump. i also put on an electric fan at the same time. i know it's not a clogged filter because i replaced that too when i replaced everything else. i've tried it with no filter at all and it's the same thing.

Maybe you need to do a flow test on that pump. Could be building pressure but just peeing a little stream, and its a faulty pump, with a built in clog.

Hey guys, I have a 79 100 with a 302/ 2 barrel, and it does the same thing. I have a new stock manual pump, and i have cleaned the carb and replaced the filter. It idles like a champ, but if i don't pedal it, it cuts off when I try to pull off. Will weak ignition or bad plugs cause this? I have the duraspark POS ignition system with vacuum advance distributor.
