Hi I am new to this forum I just purchased a stock F250 4X4 srw 6.0 liter diesel what kind of MPG can I expect with it and what is the most cost effective way to improve it
Seriously, I don't know any tricks for the 6.0L, but I'm sure the one that's worth ~3 mpg for the 7.3 works for the 6.0L: Keep you foot out of the accelerator, and don't speed. For me, if I keep it below 70 (about 2k on the tach), and don't drive it like I stole it, I get around 19 mixed city/highway driving. You might try the 6.0 forum, or some others will chime in here, I'm sure.

Welcome to FTE.
The best thing you can do to improve mpg is to keep an egg under your go pedal. Check or change all the fluids on your truck to get a base line for future changes. You could check in the 6.0 fourm and see what those guys are doing.
Keep it stock! Don't speed and use a light foot. Before I put my lift and tires on I was getting on the highway between 20-21mpg. Now that I have my lift I get 17-18 highway. There are some mods that people on here say do help but if you figure out what they have spent to gain .5-1.0mpg they don't really same you any money. If your looking for more horse power and torch then they maybe worth it. Personaly I think my truck has penty for my needs. Good luck with the new truck and enjoy!
That depends on what you do that gets it away from stock. With all that's in my siggy I've picked up extra mpgs(ironically with the way fuel prices are it won't actually take long for me to recoup that depite the small fortune it cost me to do all the stuff), even speeding I'll still have about .8 of improvement with town driving on winter fuel versus town driving on summer fuel(haven't done the mods on summer fuel yet, logically that should even be better but time will only tell).
