It's pretty messy in here.......
Thank-you those who replied to my t-stat question. I tore it apart again and it was backwards. While waiting for the gasket goo to dry I decided to take off my throttle body. What I found was disgusting!! About 5/32" of crud(notice the pro. terminology!) was built up throughout the whole plenum. The tag on the side of the t-body said do not clean specially coated, well I figured that the amount of sludge in there had definately hindered the efficiency of the "protective coating", so I disassembled it and blasted varsol in there until it was all shiny and new again. Cleaning it made a huge difference! I also put a smaller fan on the front, hoping to reduce drag, and the engine now revs up much faster! Approximately half way home I noticed a skip or a miss which I am almost positive is a plug or wire. My suggestion is clean yours, its pretty messy in there.

Your suggestion is a good one. My plenum had the same amount of crud lining the inside also. It seemed to be more concentrated toward the front four runners so I beleive that most of it is from the EGR system. This amount of obstruction HAS to reduce performance.
