fuel injector problemss

My 99 powerstroke started running really rough. I took it in and was told by the dealership the #8 injector was bad. They replaced it and it was better but still a loss of power. They then told me the #1 might be going out. Also they thought I should pay for a compression test. I'm not one to just keep giving them money while they try to figure it out. Anyone else have problems with their injectors. Also doesn't 750 seem to be a lot for replacing one injector.

Hey, welcome to the site. Sorry, but it looks like you came here a little too late, that's always how it is. Anyway, you can get a remanufactured injector for less than $150, and if you know how to remove a valve cover, you can do it yourself in less than two hours for $150 and your time. Seems like another case of the "stealership" deserving it's name. What you need is a Cylinder contribution test (CCT), not a compression test. A compression test measures the condition of the pistons and rings, sealing and creating compression. A weak/faulty injector will not contribute it's load, and any good scan tool (most of us here use a laptop with a program called AutoEnginuity) that can do a CCT and determine one or more weak injectors. Good luck.

Remember we're here if you need us.

What Kris said. ^^^^

Gee there are a lot of injector problems these days. I have heard stories of the #8 and the new cps. I have also thought about the new ULSD. Maybe they are just aging but I'm not so sure.

dealership injectors seem to run around 350 part only. My #8 injector was giving me trouble before the cps was changed. Although I had both changed at the same time. I can't imagine this had something to do with the #1 injector giving problems. Has anyone seen two injectors on different sides of the motor go at the same time?
