hi i recently got an 86 f150 my vent seals on both doors need replaced and on the passenger side i have to replace the frame..anyone done this? what kind of tools will i need? and will i need to remove the door panel?
You will need to remove the door panel, remove one bolt (10mm I think), one screw from the top of the angled part of the door frame, and thats it....they come right out. Be careful to not let the main door glass drop into the door as the front part of the main glass frame is also part of the vent window frame and will come out as you remove the vent window. After you have the vent window assembly removed, there's one bolt/spring assembly on the bottom of the frame and to screws by the hinge that come out and the vent window comes right out. The new seals are kind of a pain to get into all the channels, but a little vaseline and some patience make many things go better (get your minds out of the gutter =) ).
my buddy has a prts truck for me to rob so im gonna give it a shot im hoping ill be able to salvage his seals as jc whitney wants 40 bucks but his are probably worse than mine. thanks again
