I have an 82 F150 needing new seals for the doors, windows, vent window included.
I know I can pick up some weather strip just about anywhere. Some precut and some just in rolls. Was just wondering whats the best option to go with. I was strolling threw LMC and its $40 per door, and I noticed the vent seals are $30. Regardless it needs to be replaced seeing as in south Texas it's been a little on the rainy side... But was wondering what you guys have used to replace them and what ones I should stay away from.
I would (and did) just buy the proper/correct fitting door seals (see Dennis Carpenter, Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, LMC Truck or etc.). You install the correct fitting seals once now and they will be good for another 30 years.
Try to save money, and you'll be messing with it (leaks) for years to come.
IMHO
Price wasn't my concern, just didn't know if the LMC ones are a good option or not and I didn't want to waste money on ones from LMC if you guys have had issues with them or what not.
I haven't ordered from LMC before, have the catalog and have plenty of parts for the exterior tagged waiting till I get to that project...but that's another day.

Okay. I thought you were looking for tips on getting universal weather striping (by the roll).
KsCop says JC Whitney seals are the same as Dennis Carpenter (really? That's good to know) - If so then get those.
Dennis Carpenter has a good reputation for quality weather striping (he makes a lot of it himself).
I bought rear window seal from LMC and it was junk. But I held it too long to return it, so I just threw it away and ordered from Dennis. I was very pleased with the products from DC (but they are usually more expensive).
The seals I got from Dennis Carpenter were from Precision Parts. (Green stripe / lettering on the bag). They were fairly soft and fit perfect. Door has to be slammed a little harder, but that's it.
JC Whitney, I found after the fact, sells the exact same seals for about $80 (set of 2)
I say anytime something is made by Dennis Carpenter, get it. He only uses original Ford tooling to make all his products. When I went to the Mustang 50th celebration at the Charlotte motor speedway last April, Dennis Carpenter opened his facility for tours to all the Mustangers. It's less than a mile from the track. They happened to be making weather stripping while we were there. I think it was for Mustangs and Mavericks. He has a huge warehouse just for all the original molds and tooling. His products may be higher priced but its as close to the original as you can get.

That's why I bought the seals from him. As it turns out, he ALSO sells other's products and in the case of the door seals, they are by Precision Parts. At least that's what he sent me..
And this is why I turned to you guys before buying a set of seals, found two new places to check out for parts. No sense in dishing out money to buy all new replacement seals if all I'll be doing is fighting with them leaking on me. Appreciate it guys!
FYI: a friend bought door seals from JC Whitney for his 83. Doors wouldn't shut right, he complained to Whitney, they sent him another set which worked great. Told him to keep the NG set. (Which for some reason he thought I ought to have to store)

JC Whitney has several versions of seals available. The ones made by Precision say so in the description as I recall, and those are the ones that work so well. The other ones they offer are made by who knows and it may have been those that didn't work so well..
