I was told by my local performance shop that the SCT tuner will not work with my 07 Ford F150 SupCrew 4x4. We received the tuner about 4 weeks ago but the tunes wouldn't load. The shop contacted SCT to see if there was a tune available for my truck. They took the number for the computer and provided it to SCT. They are telling me there isn't a tune and the SCT tuner will not work. I am confused, because the Tuner is advertised for 07's. It doesn't mention that it only works for some 07 trucks. Anyone heard of this? I don't understand why a tune couldn't be made to work with my truck? Am I missing something? Does the Edge have these problems?
SCT's forums are no longer open to the public for posting, only to dealers and those with the Pro Racer package.
Just because you have an 07 and a tuner says it supports 07 doesn't mean it will work. Ford is coming out new PCM calibrations all the time, even for older trucks. It sounds like your "tooner" gave you an off the shelf unit, instead of custom programming. If he had custom programmed it he'd have known before he tuned it that it wouldn't work.

I am sure it was off the shelf. How do I avoid having to go through this again? Do I need to call these companies, give them my computer code, and see if they have a tune?

Plug it in, go to the info section and have it "read strategy." Post that stragtegy code and I'll see what I can do for you.
