You can mount a more modern MC in the stock location but I'd consider using a firewall mount. It works better and it's easier to get to for service. Correct on the wb. I used a bench seat from a 90 Ranger regular cab. It fits perfectly and with a little fabrication you can mount it to the original seat frame. It also folds forward to allow access to the original tool tray.

53-56 frame width is 34" all the way from front to back. 48-52 is 32" in front, tapers outward at the trans crossmember to 34" and stays 34" to the back. The track width is the same, therefore, the front axle would mount an inch inboard on the 48-52's as opposed to the 53-56. In differences between the frames of F1's and F2's? I dunno for certain, other than the trans crossmember, and wb. However, on the IH's, the difference between a KB1 and KB2 (1/2 to 3/4) is only in the leafspring ratings.

Just as an aside, a LOT of questions like these have been answered, some many times. You can make a list of things you are looking for information on, and do a "forum search", and get a lot of information there. That would be a lot easier on you, than taking one thread, and getting lot's of different answers, on a lot of different questions. You'll also get a LOT of answers, from a lot of people, more so than those that just happen to be on the list at the moment.

Just a thought...

i have been using the forum search and it does work well. one of my reasons for asking is the majority of people that have done certain modifications seem to leave out critical parts if there was a problem and we all know that happens. sometime people haven't posted thinking their update wasn't that interesting and now they have a chance to share it. i don't mind asking as long as nobody minds answering.
