laptop screen replacement

hey guys,

I got a dell laptop (cant find the model #) that I got from a pawn shop a couple of weeks ago the problem is, that last night my dogs knocked it of the coffee table and broke the screen.

so my question is, does anybody know of a cheep way to get a replacement screen? like one that the hard drive took a dump on but screen is still good, etc.

thanks, Drago.

It might have a video out connection that you can just hook up an old monitor to. That might be a bit hard for most to carry it around, but for a big Texan should be no problem

most Dell laptops carry a 3 year warranty, however a cracked screen would only be covered under a complete care warranty, if he bought it at a pawn shop then he would need to do a change of ownership through dells website, but being from a pawn shop who knows where it came from and by what means? if ya get my drift!?

I forgot the Pawn shop deal..

Also Dell has a great warranty.. I have never ran into a problem with them..

I had a customer laptop that they had someone else try and fix, and they didn't,
I got it and tried to fix it then I found it was still under warranty..

Dell came replaced the motherboard and new power supply.. They even changes the soft rubber pads on the bottom.. Now that is service..

If the screen is okay and you just can't see what is on the screen because the light
got blown out you could just convert it to a projector and use the screen a new light
source and a fresnel lense and put the screen onto the wall and have a 30" monitor
if you wanted!!http://www.instructables.com/tag/?q=...c=on&sort=none
Whoa that's a long address!! But it's the search for a projector made using an old LCD
monitor or tv. Look through there and you'll find one that makes sense to you at least
you could use the screen even if you do replace it.

If you can see it, but the screen backlight is out you can just change the power inverter module to fix it.. They are available.. I just bought one on Ebay..

Well if You can take a picture of the machine...
I have a few dell screens if You need one. I'll pass it on for shipping cost only.
You can take the six screw covers off the inside besel and remove the screws and then remove the bracket screws and fold it down and there's a tag on the back of the screen..thats the part number..Post it or get the model off the bottom of it.
Is it a blue, black or silver colored laptop.
I do laptop repairs and always have a few extra screens left.
Pinks

P.S. I used to Drag Race Boats in Conroe..I have a 19' Young Blood X19 with a 477 Chevy B.B. We still hold a record!!

Makes sense, I know the xbox 360 has screws under those rubber feet, so I figured maybe this was the same sort of thing
