I ordered a add-a-leaf kit for my front end the other day. Would it be wise to replace the shocks as well? How/what is the procedure for our shock replacement? What shocks should I go with?
you'll be ok. i got the add-a-leaf on my 250 and i didnt have any problem with the shocks.
unless they are shot, to test them take them out (two bolts, probably 18mm, one on top and one on the bottom) and see if once you compress them if they pop right back out. you should be able to push them in with your body weight.
if you do wanna replace them, bilstein are a really good, but expensive brand. any of the rancho/skyjacker, ect. i would put in my truck if you dont wanna spend an arm and a leg.
the skyjacker nitro 8000's are awesome shocks and very affordable. huge difference in ride over stockers. i run the hydro 7000's, a step down but still very nice
I have a Tuff Country leveling kit in the front of my F-250 and it provides about 1 1/2" of lift (levels the truck out). I ran the stock shocks with this for a couple of years and just recently changed to Bilstein HD's, and I like the ride. They were about $260 for a set of four at shockwarehouse.com. The front shocks have two different size bolts on them, I believe it was 18mm and 21mm, and were kind of a bear to remove and replace; the rears went easy. Icebox FX was right about the spray lube. A little spray silicone on the bushings makes the job alot easier. Hope this helps!
