I am finally getting to spend a little time and a few $$$ on my 53. If progress doesn't hit a big snag, maybe I'll fire it up next week. Then it'll be time to wait for $$$ to build the driveshaft Here's a few pics of where I'm at right now. The Mercedes engine is starting to look at home in the Ol Ford.
Now that is what I call unique. That is going to be very cool. Kinda diggin the Mercedes trim on the front. More pics!!!
Check out my gallery, there's quite a few in there.
I always heard that unique is what won awards, except I didn't build mine to show. I just like to be different.
Alway's good to see some progress!! I like the grille emblem too , but what really does it for me is the 'patina"..Great job so far there Jeff! Keep us posted!
Jeff, Looking good! What year is the doner Mercedes? My son is a tech working on Mercedes. His current daily is a 87 300 turbo diesel. He bought his with a bad engine but a good body (I schooled him well years ago) and he rebuilt the engine. His car is considerably heavier that your truck. The truck won't be a rocket ship but it will have better performance that originally, should give great mileage and last forever.

The donor was a 81 300SD. The engine performed well in the car which weighed aroung 4K, so I think it will do OK in the effie.
I hope to finish mounting the radiator tonite and then hook up the oil cooler lines and tranny cooler lines and it should be ready to start. It'll be hard waiting for a driveshaft once I hear it run.
