Dealer removed engine to fix oil leak, got truck back with a whining noise coming from near the turbo, sounded like a pump of some sort. Took it in dealer replaced HPOP and said the noise was gone. Got it back noise was plain as day still. Can the HPOP be replaced in 7-8 hrs. Im questioning wether or not they changed anything, and I have a hard time beleiving that they thought the whining was gone, since when i picked it up I heard it right away. Picked it up after dealer closed so couldnt talk to them, now I have to bring it back in. Any ideas??
Yes the HPOP can be replaced in 7-8 hours. Actually I know a tech that just did a cab lift head replacement in 6 hours (Yes I know him personally and have his cell number and the dealership he works for). It's very possibly that the whine you're hearing is the gears on the back of the engine that run the HPOP and camshaft from the crank. Give it a little time and see if it doesn't wear in. It's really not a big deal.
