Oh yeah, tons of fish there. I see them jumping in front of my jet ski every time I ride there. The lake is Lake Conroe. I live right on it now but in the wrong neighborhood. I will post pics for sure and we are also going to have a big BBQ/party. Come on down!

No where does it say that a diesel is exempt from having a muffler. I'm leaving mine on. It's not worth the trouble of trying to get it inspected and all of the hassle that goes with it.
Scott, i linked to the main page about mufflers. They are required. BUt when you read more about exhaust inspection requirements, that is where it says diesels are exempt from emissions testing. Damn regulations read like every other law. Read the other pages about exhaust to get really confused.

Congrats on finding your home. I remember the excitement of purchasing mine. I am jealous as well, as it sounds awesome. I want to sell my house, property, and everything else and just pick up and move to Three Rivers. It's getting rough being this close to the border and and i don't want to be here with the fence coming in. Choke Canyon lake seems pretty cool.

It may not be against the law to sell them. If they are like the cat deletes they are marketed as "test" pieces and for "off road use only."
With that being said, all you folks who are bitchn about your muffler...did you look at the stupid thing before you installed it?!?!? I don't think there is much restriction there...MAYBE a little noise deadening.
If it bothers you that much here is a little trick I have learned in the tractor pulling world. A lot of antique classes force you to run "stock." To some this means with a muffler. Now here is the how to:
- Measure the ID of the muffler to be demufflered.
- Find a pipe with that same OD.
- Place the muffler on a hard surface with the clamshell openings pointing away from you. (so you can't see into them)
- Beat the pipe through the muffler pushing the clamshells into the openings they were created from.

This will esentially create a straight pipe out of a muffler. It will pass all visual muffler inspections, but will flow and sound like a staight pipe.
One final note is, you can install the muffler either way on a truck and you could put the clamshells out for less restriction and more noise.

Hope this helps!

BTW - I have done this to my SMTA and will be doing it to my H.

Ron of Ron's Powerstroke (you know, the guy with the naked ladies...) is the one who patented that idea. He bought the MKO aluminized system and painted it with HIGH TEMP stove paint and slapped it one. Nothing to it. He said now after three (It might only be two) winters it could use another spray bomb.

Whenever I punch a cat it seems to rattle quite a bit. (Sounds about like my broken baffle in my stock exhaust) This will have NO adverse effects.

i did the pipe in the muffle once, but never have again since it has really never been a problem around here.

i have always hollowed out the cats on my gassers. I experienced a plugged one once, and never want to go through that again.

That just happened, how long have you been in new jersey. Not to be ignorant, They give tickets for farting to loud. straight pipe is NOT LEGAL in your state. I talked to a state trooper on vacation one year and we got into the discussion of exhaust systems because my cousin got pulled over for a loud exhaust. The trooper said the state worries about sparks coming out and starting fires. You have alot of pine barrons over there and gets very dry.. I here from friends that live over there they are very strick with the inspections. Just be careful, good luck.

Muffler Shmuffler. . . who needs muffler?
I got one of those. Its actually a pretty intricate system. It starts with eight exhaust valves. . . goes into a turbo and then systematic placement of 6 inch tubing out into the most effective part. . . the atmosphere. From a mile a way its almost unaudible
