I have a 2002 X 2wd 7.3l diesel if I park the truck over night the batteries are drained by the morning. on monday the alternator when bad do to the smaller power wire off of the passanger side battery grounding out. here is what I have done New alternator, 2 new batteries, fixed the bad wire, checked the rest of the starter wiring for shorts(I believe it the stater wiring). the only thing that I can come up with is that the one starter wire one the starter relay that goes to the battery is drawing the batteries down.
Now what I did to isolate what I think is the problem is I removed the battery cables and tested for Continuity between the wire and ground there is......so I remove the 2 connectors that are on the aluminum heat sink type componant on the passanger side and test again nothing.. I test each wire to ther respected terminal all good. Plug them back in and I have continuity to ground......Is that piece gone bad with the short that happened? or does that always have continuity?
whats that piece called so I can get a replacement?
