The Raptor will be a completely different type of high horsepower truck than the Lightning was --- geared more to the desert sands than the track or the street.
Wasn't the Lightning supposed to come back?! I hear no plans , concepts , rumors , or anything about it. Am I missing something?!?
i did hear ford was making a performance truck also. i just thought it would be the lighting but from what i read, its not the lightning, could be that raptor.
instead of the F150, Ford SVT was going to make a high performance Sport Trac (390hp). But in the end they pulled the plug on the performance motor for it and it only came out in 2008 with ground effects and bigger wheels vs. the regular Sport Trac, and it's called the Sport Trac Adrenalin.

Which is really unfortunate, that would have been a fun little rig to cruise in
The Adrenalin is already in limited production, and its not the vehicle they promised. Its all show, no go. Nothing very special under the hood. Sad. But it does give the aftermarket, like Roush and Saleen, a chance to fill the void.
I may be wrong but it seems to me that the Harley Davidson F-150's had many of the same characteristics as the Lightning had. The HD also seems to be bigger and heavier thus not as quick.
Before the F150's changed for th 04 year, the Harley trucks had the super charger on them but at only 360 Hp, pretty sure they only got the supercharger after the Lightnings power was bumped up to 380 though
