So I have been doing alot of research on here and it seems like alot of people like the 6637 mod and have good things to say, so I thought I would give it a try on my 02 Excursion. I was thinking though, and there seems to be alot of dislike toward he stock filter system, mainly because it allows dust into the turbo. What makes the 6637 better, since it is just sitting there, not in a box? Is the stock filter that bad? Also, here in Dallas, the roads like to flood when ever it rains, and I have a tendency to not avoid the puddles, would there be any signifigant chance of water splashing up there and getting on the filter damaging anything or causing problems?
I've driving my truck in some torrential downpours and through running water and never had a problem with my 6637 filter setup
Problem with the stock setup is that the filter doesn't always fit perfectly in the stock box and allows air past and around the filter meaning its allowing unfiltered air in.
I always go out of my way to go through puddles (big ones 2). haha I have had no problem what so ever. I also don't think you will have any problems unless your doing some hardcore mudding in some deep stuff.
Alright, well I guess that explains it. I don't go mudding with it at all, I was just conserned with the water getting up there, but with everyone that has one, I have not heard of any problems, so I guess I'll just take your guy's word for it. Thanks for the answers guys.

Don't feel bad for asking. I checked mine after every drive through a rain the first several times to be sure.
