I found out today that on April 19th,08 the Ky Speedway will have it's first drive the track for 08. What this means is if you buy $40.00 worth in the gift shop you get to drive your auto for 3 lap around the track. Each $40.00 earns you 3 laps. There will be a pace car that you cannot pass but it doesn't mean you couldn't lag back and then play catch as the pace car runs about 65/75. It would be a great day out if some who lived fairly close could get together and run our trucks around the track, man you talk about some awesome PIC'S that would be, just dreaming outloud. Truxx, heres the info you ask for but thought i'd show everyone------ Garry
It's a exit 55 or 57 on I71 about 1/2 way between Louisville,Ky. and Cincinnati, Ohio. I live 3 miles from the track and I haven't done it yet but am planing to this summer if i get my truck back together, got it apart doing so paint to see if i like the color or not-Garry
I did it two years ago. I bought six tickets for the busch race and ended up with like 21 laps. I stopped counting at 25 and we just kept on running. I was driving the wife's Taurus and we got up to 105 according to the GPS. The trick is to go out on the track when no other cars are there. There was a big group of like 8 vettes that came on the track right behind me, and I ended up lapping the track and following them in about 5 laps.
They had me following one of the debris trucks, and those guys said if I followed in their tracks and didn't do anything stupid they would let me go as fast as I was comfortable with. The ol kli'tuarus hit the speed limiter a few times on the front stretch, but I'd say average speed was 90ish. It is an awesome feeling. I would post some pics if I had any idea how.
We drove the track a few years ago, it was a blast. We have a video from inside our 56 showing the speedometer pegged but it only registers 90. Definitely a great experience if you have never done this before. I will mark it on my calendar.

Saturday's the day for running the Ky. Speedway in Homade. I still have to go thursday or friday and get new tires on the front and won't have the hood back on but that'll be OK, will try to get pics on track.
