do i need a pcv valve? i took mine off today at work cause it kept popping out of the hose and causing a vacuum leak. but i was wondering what it will do to my motor without it there. anything serious? my motor seems to idle a little smoother but higher without it ( about 1000 - 1100 rpms)
Can I Just Run A Hose From The Valve Cover To The Air Cleaner, Will That Have Enough Suck To Pull The Extra Oil And Gunk Out. Should I Put A Filter Between The Cover And Air Cleaner.
Don't run without a pcv valve, also don't plug the vacuum tee off the back of the manifold. I tried to plug the fitting off the manifold, and it created a surging idle. The computer needs to see the slight leak that the valve provides. If your worried about gunking up the filters, connect the pcv valve to the hose, connect this too the tee at the back of the manifold, and don't put it in the valve cover, use a breather on the cover.
The rubber grommet on the valve cover it mounts into is common stock at almost every auto parts store @ 1 buck. If it pops out of the new one too and the valve itself is not clogged up, you have alot bigger problem you should be worried about!(abnormally excessive positive crank case pressure I think its called, having to do w/ one of the possible results of a head gasket failure. Someone will plobibly pick up on my intended reference to and explain it more proficiently.
