Time for Tires

Ok so it is pretty much time for me to start looking for tires to put on my truck. 235/75/R15 is what came on the truck. 2003 Super Cab 4x2 3.0 5 speed. Right now I am running a more aggressive tire. They were on the truck when I bought it. I could keep running them and get around 35 to 40,000 miles out of them. But I would like to get something that is an alteraine tire. I am currently getting about 18 to 20 MPG. I would like to get a little better Ride (less noise) and if I can get better fuel that would be nice as well. I do some off road driving. No major mudding but I need something that when I go down the road to deer camp I woun't get stuck.

I have been looking at a few different tires and I like the looks of the Toyo, Wild Country, Porelli, and Goodyear Wrangler.

I have not seen the uniroyal Liberators. Who sells them?

I replaced my Firestones with Dunlop "Rover" M & S. Smooth tire with a lot of traction

The Bridgestone Dueler APT III has been a good tire for me. Good riding, quiet, good traction.

I have the goodyear wrangler mt/r's they are a little noisy and the ride is a little rougher but they pull great in snow, mud, and ice. I use my truck to commute back and forth to work and hunting when the season allows. These tires work pretty good. I order them through walmarts website.

x2. They are rated very well across all categories, and are pretty cheap.

I added BFG P225/70R15 Long Trails for the tires to my 2002 4x2; 2.3L; 5 speed. 80,000 mile warranty and the tire is quiet. Have had them nearly 30,000 miles and they still look new. Ordered them from BJ's. Truck is a daily driver and rides great!

I recently got rid of the 31x10.5x15 Kuhmo tires that came on my truck. I ended up buying 4 Yokohama Geolander 235/75-15 AT-S tires. I already have almost 5000 miles on them, and can't say enough good things about them. Wet traction is amazing. I've had a bunch of Rangers and different tires and they have all been scary on wet pavement, and taking off from a stop light is always a tire spinning affair. Not anymore. I have an open rear end and even romping on it on wet pavement I have trouble getting it to brake loose. No hydroplaning either. Snow & ice traction has been equally impressive and we've had a lot of ice/snow this winter. They have 0 road noise, which is a nice change from the loud 31's I had before. No perceptable wear so far and they balanced with very small weights. My 31's had big weights all over and still vibrated. This has been the best set of tires I've ever had on a Ranger, and I've had a lot of tires on Rangers from cheap Walmart Liberators (garbage), to BFG's, Uniroyals, and others. I've never been happy with others due to vibration, tread wear, noise, traction or a combination of things. In driving Rangers for over 400,000 miles, this is the first set of tires I've been happy with all around.
I got them on ebay for $382 for 4 with free shipping and had them in 2 days. I'm done trying tires, I finally found the ones I like. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-235...spagenameZWD1V

I Was just about to ask everyone what kind of Wear they were getting on these tires. I like the Yokohama's the best. I am still torn between them and the Toyo Open Country A/T. My Local Dealer said I could get a set of 4 for about $450 and the Yokohoma's for about $421. That is Mounted, Balanced, Road Side Service, Flat Repair, and Free Rotation for the life of the Tire.

I’m running Firestone AT’s right now and I’m very happy with them. I’m going to stick with them for a while and would suggest them to anybody. I’ve always like Dueler’s and ran them on my last full size Jeep. They worked very well for me. I ran a set of Liberators on a F150 and for the price I couldn’t complain. I got good mileage from them too and later put the same set on my F350. That was a little much for them. But on a light weight truck they’re a cheap alternative to other tires. Goodyears are hit or miss. I’ve had good sets and I’ve had bad sets. When I’ve gotten a good set they have been some of the best rubber I’ve ever ran but with the price that you have to pay for them it isn’t worth the risk of getting a *****ty set. The one thing I will say, and I will have a lot of folks disagree with me, but BFG’s are hot garbage and should never be ran on anything. I’ve ran their car tires, LT tires, and commercial rubber and have never like them. I’ve ran them on-road and off, on big trucks and small, on hotrods and commuters and they have disappointed me everytime! They are over priced, over hyped and should never be consider unless you wait to part of the “in” crowd; and we all know the coolest kids know best.

Wal*Mart. That's what I have on mine. They seem to do well on the road but the tread pattern is only slightly more aggressive than a typical street tire so I doubt they would perform well on much more than a dirt road.

I don't think you can beat them for the price for primarily on road use.
