I need to replace the fuel tank selector valve on my 97 -- the last year for dual tanks. The trouble is, I can't get the fuel lines off of the old valve. The fuel lines have the snap connectors which should snap right on the new valve once I get 'em off the blazflagging old one. I have the little metal tools with the split sleeves that should slide up inside the fitting and release it. The tools are even color coded so I can't mix up the sizes. However, there isn't enough room between the valve body and the fitting to get the sleeve of the tool in there. I've pulled the fitting as far out as it will go, and there is still not enough gap to get the tool in there. Has anyone seen this problem before with the snap on fuel line fittings?
The fitting does have a little plastic clip with a triangular tab, that I could pull out to release it. The service manual even describes that as the way to release the fitting, but they empasize the clip should be replaced and not reused. That woud be just dandy with me, but I can't find that clip in any of the parts listings.
