I have a 1999 F250 super duty. Yesterday I'm riding on the farm, I push on the brakes and they go to the floor!!!! I get out and look under the truck and see brake fluid running down from the gas tank. Anyone have or heard of this problem???? Thank god I wasn't on the street!!!!!!!
This happen to mine (2000 f 250). It was an easy fix I went to napa an picked up a tubing bender, bulk roll of brake line (can not remeber size) two new fittings (one to hook up just below the drivers door the othe at the rear axle) and a flare kit. It was not that hard. Be shure you can get the rear bleeders open before you start.
All the brake lines I've done are 3/16" but I have not done the Super Duty yet so check to be sure. My flare tool kit will do five different sizes, 3/16" to 1/2" tubing, and it will make either single or double inverted flares. It is my understanding that all brake lines use a double flare.
I always prefer to replace the entire line with a single piece that runs from "Point A to Point B" instead of using several premade lengths with unions that most parts stores have. A 25' coil of 3/16" brake line is about $15 around here, flare nuts and unions just under $2 each for single pieces.
