Hi everyone. This is my first time posting....so please ignore my stupidity. I have a 2001 f150 4.6l supercrew 2wd, about 103,000 on it. I was wondering what is everyones recommendation on maintenance/tune up. To my knowledge, my truck has not had any fluid change ( i.e. trans, anitfreeze, rear diff. etc ) or spark plug change. I would like to know what is the best and what I can expect out of my truck after the mods. The only mod is my volant air filter that came with the truck. I appreciate the time you spend hepling me out.

Reason: cant spell
I would recommend changing all the things you mentioned. You won't see a performance increase but it will give you peace of mind knowing that it's being took care of.
agree with above, if there's fluid, change it. lube everything that's lube-able if you don't do it regularly, and do a tie rod/ ball joint check. At 103 the tie rods should be ok, i beat mine up 150k and it was still ok when the truck got parted, but it's still good to check, but i did install ball joints at 120 and they were shot.
the motor is 5w20 or 5w30, your choice of brand... the transmission is MERCON V. the rear axle is 75W140 synthetic gear lube. brand name is not important and long as it meets the specs.

Amen....standby for the Amsoil vs RP vs Redline vs.....
argument...err, i mean discussion.
There isn't that much difference brand to brand IMHO, used most of em with no noticable difference. I personally use rotella 15W40 in everything I own except my 06 Fusion, just cause I don't like having 6 different kinds of oil around LOL.
Thanks for responding back guys....one other question, when I bought the truck (used) it did not come with a remote. I tried to use a Ford manufactured remote but it won't work. So I took it to a dealer and they couldn't get it to work either, should I just buy a different remote all together?
if you mean keyless entry....they're all at different frequencies......I'm surprised a dealer couldn't get you set up with the correct remote.....Usually all it takes is the VIN.
The module they are talking about is the receiver for the keyless remote or keypad on the doors. I have had to change one on a sport-trac. The costs was around $700 installed and calibrated. The vehicle would not start with the key in the ignition. This is mainly a security module.
