Wiper Malfunction

I have about 2" of slack in my wipers. I can grab either wiper blade and move it up and down. When they are on, they slap like crazy. Getting to my wiper motor is a pain becasue I have underdash air. What do you think the problem is? Linkage or motor ? Thanks!

Well which ever it is its a pita to get to to fix.

The mounts themselves can be bad, arm bushings or the pivot arm. The main drive can be stripped in the motor...Either way the repairs have to be done by removal.

Welcome to the old truck world.....

Steve did the trip from Phoenix to Austin for roundup with just rain ex....LOL

Now is the time to take it all out and do 2 speed intermittent wipers.

Sounds like a job for when I am absolutely bored with nothing else to do. Mine are already 2-speed which is good enough for me.

A man with 160 posts in one months time must stay bored, or all of his truck projects are simple. He can't be working on his truck and computer at the same time.

Did you check to see if the pivot nuts are tight? I noticed the same amount of slop in the 66 across the street and found the nuts loose. I tightened them down and it pulled most of the slop out. I did do the 2 speed swap as well and didn't find any issue with under dash linkages.
