why no 6.2 engine yet?

In the 70's, poor gas quality/emissions/insurance rates doomed the horsepower wars.
In the 80's, the HP war was resurrected with EFI (some will say the '82 302 2V carb with a whopping 175 HP in the Mustang GT re-kindled it)..........both HP and gas prices have increased since.

Actually that was 157hp in 82 with 175hp coming in 83 with the 4bbl carb.

It is not a matter of "need" it is a matter of "want". If the public wants a 400HP truck then thats what they want...You can talk about HP vs. MPG vs. cost until you are blue in the face....bottom line is, what sells trucks! If the automakers build what you "should" have they won't be around long...If Toyota builds them...where are the sales going to be?
Could it be fuel prices?

Partially......could it also have anything to do with no more ez cash due to the housing crash???
How about lower trucks sales because construction is down.
Or is it ALL because of fuel costs???

Nothing in the economy stands alone, housing sales are down because the economy is bad, the economy is bad because gas prices are high, gas prices are high due to the bad dollar...
You can't pin anything on just one cause.
(although i put irresponsible lending by sub prime brokers pretty high on the single cause list)
