I have 2 trucks that need glow plugs.
A 1993 Turbo Diesel and a 1994 Powerstroke.
I ordered glow plugs from 2 diffrent places on Ebay.
I just ordered for a 7.3 not by the year.
I got 2 diffrent lenghth glowplugs.
1 set is 5 inches long and 1 set is 3 inches long?
Does it matter ?
Both sellers had pretty good feedback.
So has anyone ever seen 5 inch long glowplugs?
Does it matter if they are longer ?
The other ones are Champion and are short?
Im thinking using the short ones for the 93 and the long ones for the 94!
The problem with some GP's other than Motorcraft/Beru is that the tip swell. SO when they go bad and you go to remove them they get stuck in the head and break. Then about the only way to get them out is to pull the head and get it out. Not a good situation!
When changing the glow plugs do you remove the valve cover gasket and wiring for more room?
I was going to do that and I unclipped one wire going to the injector and it didnt pull right out so I quit pulling?
It felt almost like it was spring loaded?
But it would sure be easier if that wasnt there?
No need to remove anything other than the valve cover and unplug the glow plug connector. Use a 10mm deep socket to loosen the GP then use a hose to spin them off, or if you have small fingers use them instead.

Thats how I was doing it , but Im having trouble getting plug wire back on .
