I have a 1990 that I just had the radiator and upper hose replaced, now the evap core appears (dye)to be leaking.Has anyone else had this problem? thanks
How did you determine that the evap core is leaking? Did you open up your vent panels to check to see? or is it just leaking outside the piping? Normally when the radiator is swapped out, you usually see damage to the condensor that causes a leak.
though, Honestly at that age, the A/C components are going to start to go out, especially if you have gotten contaminants into the system (ie water). If you plan on keeping the van for many more years, then I would replace the whole system.

He might be talking about the condenser.....since he had radiator work done.
Is it the thing that looks like a skinny radiator that's in front of your radiator or is it the thing in the box on the firewall on the passenger side???
No it's the evap core behind the blower motor. There is dye under the evap case on the wheel well liner.I have already replaced the compressor, accumulator, oriface tubes front and rear.Flushed the system. That was about four months ago.The a/c was fine until the radiator and upper hose was replaced.I think that the compressor was not supported very well.I'll post as soon as I remove it.

While there is no physical connection between the two systems, if this is a 4.0L engine, I surmise the mechanic twisted the A/C hoses to the side to gain access room to remove the radiator. If he/she twisted or kinked the hose near the connection that would, in turn, cause a leak to develop.
probably the boost in a/c system pressure from a tuned up fully charged system blew a weak corroded evaporator or the tech twisted the a/c hoses to the evap. damaging the core or connectors.
common failure
best to replace all including hoses and inline filters in a 17 year old system
Well,it has a hole in the core and it wasn't that ahrd to change. So maybe now I can drive it long enough to get the modulator for the trans adjusted(in Texas no A/C is quite uncomfortable)Thanks for the help I'll post on the trans if I can't get it figured out Thanks Guys!!
