I get the books from the states, they show lots of metal parts for repairing the body like the corners of the cabs or the floorboards or rockers.
Can be a lot of fun learning as you go.
this is the way I look at it, I Applaud you! you are doing what you can for now to make it look better
I hate it when I see trucks running around with huge rusted out spots and looking like crap when all the person would have to do is just put a little time into it to make it look better
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
The green bondo product called "fiberglass gel" is a much better for holes. It is 10 times stronger and waterproof. The main drawback is that it is too hard to sand so what i do is is use the green for a base coat and make sure I level it slightly below the finished surface. Then apply a thin coat of the regular bondo and it will make a much longer lasting repair.
If you can get to the back side, you can coat a piece of bondo fiberglass woven cloth with the gel, that is cut about an inch larger that the hole and stick it over the hole (from the rear) then coat the front. With this method I have covered holes as large as 3" in dia. and it has lasted for several years if you keep both sides painted.
That stuff was on my parts truck, I just put them on her
the other bug shield that was on it was busted and it hides some surface rust for now
I think I'm going to write something on it?
someone suggested "3VOM", MOVE backwards, or "if you can read this flip me over" but write it upside down
Another alternative is another POR-15 product I used on an old Datsun Z car I restored a few years ago. It is a two part putty made by POR-15 and you knead it together like an epoxy and then put it into places like your fenderwell or smaller rusted areas. You can smooth it with yoru hand and grind and sand it after it dries in a couple of hours. Stuff works great and like the POR-15 paint, you put it on over the rust. Might be worth a try and I imagine at least one of the sponsors sells it.
