I was wondering my 7.3 has been sitting all winter but started it once a week and let it sit for awhile. i drove it down the road today and noticed blue smoke comming from the exhaust for a few miles and then it went away. is this normal and what is it.
I was gonna start my truck after all winter off sitting and read this thread.
Is there something a guy should do b4 starting up in the spring?
I have had a little battery maintainer on new batts so that should be OK. The tanks are both at a quarter. Oil 1k ago. New anti-freeze/conditioner - Sept.
Would you spray fogging oil in the intake/turbo inlet as ya crank for the first time? I read the "rust - cylinder" line and got to thinking that a few valves are open no matter where the engine stops.
The chipmunks got into the Bronco 2 but a few rpms cured that I think.

'97 PSD, DIT, auto, F-350, 125k, stock, 15w40 rotella, still been 30 degrees day 15 @ night.
I wouldn't be concerned about the blue smoke. A lot of diesels give off a blue/whitish haze during warm up in the colder months. Especially if the unit has been sitting awhile.
