Question MAP Sensor Vacuum Line Connects Where?

'95 F350 / 351W

I'm going through all my engine sensors to make sure they are working and plugged in correctly... previous owner swapped in an engine from a '96 and many things were not hooked up as I am now finding out - during several attempts at emissions testing.

I now have a question on the MAP sensor... my vacuum line comes from the throttle body but I saw a picture of another '95 engine bay with a 351 and it seemed the vacuum line was going to the driver side of the maniford to get vacuum. So where is the MAP vacuum line supposed to be connected? Which port and side of the engine? Also does it need to have that plastic tube in the middle or can you use a regular hose?

Thank you in advance...

Mine is attached to a port on the main vacuum tree. A rubber hose should work just as well as the plastic one, as long as it doesn't have any kinks and resists sucking closed under vacuum.

Is the main vacuum tree you refer to on the driver side of the manifold? Thank you for the quick response. You have been a big help to me over the last couple of days with this stuff. :-)

Yep, driver side. There should be about 6 ports positioned around the brake booster vacuum line.

Double thanks guys...I'm going to hook my MAP up to the right port tomorrow! Wondering if hooking it to the throttle body would affect performance... and if it would cause it to run rich and output high HC, CO emissions. The truck runs good except doesn't get up and go like it should when you step on it.

Hmmm.... my brake booster line is connected to upper intake runners and there's 3 smaller ports that are already occupied. I guess I'll follow one of those lines and tee into it for the MAP. My buddy has a '94...I'll pop his hook tomorrow.

It really shouldn't matter where it is placed, as long as the location gets full manifold vacuum.
