It does sound high for an 11 year old truck but those older low mile powerstrokes seem to be made of gold around here. There was a truck for sale very similar to this one except it had 140k and they where asking $14k for it. I was looking at buying one for a while but decided that I can stick to a gasser that cost half as much as a powerstroke.
There was one around my area with 100K miles on it. It looked really sharp but for $12,000 I thought it was out of this world (I only paid $1500 for the same year truck). I thought, there's no way this trucks gonna sell...well in two weeks it was gone.
It's hard to say if it'd sell or not, but i don't think he'll have a problem selling it.
even for 48K miles, and in tip top condition, a '97 F250 with all options and 4WD and the powerstroke motor, and automatic tranny, the truck would be worth only between
$ 10,000-15,000. I've seen a 1997 F350 with all options/4WD/and automatic tranny and powerstroke motor, it was selling for $19,995.00, and it sold, but I dunno about for the full the asking price, but also this was a full ton pick-up not a 3/4 ton pickup. Maybe this truck could be worth $17.5 thousand, but I don't think it'd be worth more than 15 thousand, really I don't see it fetching more than $14,000-15,000
There was a 97 F359 4x4 SC Short bed 5 spd Ps. with 30000 miles HAD 17999 on window. At 7 Am when I looked at it. I went back when lot opened and there were guys bidding on it. So its not to much to some people. Me yes
Old trucks are starting to hold there value pretty good around here, something that nice would no doubt bring that asking price. I think whats beginning to happen is that the people that need them can't afford the monthly payment and the cost of gas, there for, used trucks are bringing more and more value as there becomming more in demand.
A lot of people claim this generation of truck is the best ford has made. And the PSD is arguably one of the best motors you could get, and this trucks in nice shape. so to someone who wants a late 90s ford truck w/ turbodiesel, they don't have many options.
