Ha, I have access to a 69 F100 with a very good cab and front end. The salvage yard doesnt want to sell the whole truck to me. Do any of you think it would be possible to unbolt the cab and slide it sideways off of the truck?
Yup, with the nose off, FOUR bolts will get the cab in your hands(after you unhook steering rag joint). Take at least 4 buddies with you if they don't offer a crane. Especially if it has interior...it will be pretty heavy.
One to remember when taking off the cab is to remove ground strap, and fuel lines. I just switched a 70's cab for a 68's cab. Now I can't get the engine started.
Look at the firewall, there will be gas petal linkage, brake system, heater hose, AC lines (option), electrical on each finders (connectors), Shifting linkage if column shift, and fuel line as previous said. If you take the front clip, seat, doors off, it light enough for 4 to handle.
The problem is that this truck has a 350 Chevy in it. I would prefer to buy the whole truck but the junkyard owner seems to think that equates to pure gold. So everything has to be pulled there.
Keep looking, it is when we get in a rush that we get into trouble. If you aint broke down there aint nothing that is one of a kind and you can't find another one of.
