Mercury bomber

I stumbled across this truck while surfing:

The caption under this image read;

"1949 Mercury Pickup... This is a truck that was built in Calgary in the 1970's and now resides in Lac La Biche in northern Alberta... It is special because the tires on it are from a Lancaster Bomber! Now how many monster trucks can say that?"

Looks like the old girl was used hard, poor use of a nic Merc, if you ask me.

I must be kinda wierd too...I think that thing is sweet. Hmmmm, plan B......naw keep thinking hot rod, not bog rod. Why do you guys keep clouding my mind with this stuff.....

What kind of gearing would you need to get moving with those tires?! I'm with Bob on this, lots of old iron was made into useless "monster truck" look-alikes in the old days.

PS -- how do you turn?
