I am about to order a new XLT, blue over silver. I can't find a picture of the bodyside mouldings listed on the spec sheet. Are they painted the same as the upper color or are they thin chrome looking strips. The dealer doesn't have a truck in stock that has them. Also, I love the look of a two tone Lariat with the lower color climbing over the wheel wells. The XLT two tone just goes straight, like a high water mark. Can I just add the Lariat wheel opening mouldings to get this look?
BTW, I am not ordering a Lariat because I want cloth seats. It's irritating that I have to order a cheaper truck to get what I want, but I guess that's how the game is played.
Yes you can add them to the xlt, but you wont be able to order it that way, you will have to add them after you recieve the truck. watch ebay for a set, or even look for after market fender flares that are made to mimick factory flares, get them painted and bolt on. I may consider putting them on my truck as well, have not made up my mind on it yet! Definately is a nice look!
I think I.B. is asking about the bodyside moldings, not the wheel lip flares. In I.B.'s case, the moldings will be blue (primary color). They mount just above the paint (color) change.
here is the only pic I could find with body side mouldings, but i could'nt find any info on them, from the FORD website. I would have to say on a two tone they would be the upper color.
Thanks, I think I will get the side moldings. The chrome looking ones I had seen looked like they came straight out of a J.C. Whitney catalog and looked pretty crappy. I just wanted to make sure I didn't end up with them.
