The boost tubes, alternator, intake manifold, egr cooler and oil filter housing all have to go. If its an 03 motor the turbo has to come off to remove the intake. If you are used to wrenching count on the best part of a day.
Bob I have a book that you should get if your diggin into your motor,Tips and Tricks for the 6.0 by Bruce Amacker. They aren't cheap (100 bucks)but IMO worth every penny.Ebay has them or turbo training web site. Have fun.
when you get down in the vally where the cooler sits make sure you replace the screen and keep it clean going to the ipr if you dont it could stick it up causing a pressure loss and no start
thanks for the info. i was just curious, the truck it still under warranty once it hit 75000 kilometers it turned into my worst nightmare. the motor was taken out for a severe bed plate leak. it now has 85000 km on it and it has broken down every 500km since the motor was out. The worst thing is it is something different every time and has nothing to do with the motor being out of it. Im at the point now where i wish someone would steal it or burn it
