I've searched for vin#, serial#, production#, production code and several combinations of those.
The serial# I have worked out. My truck was built in Richmond, CA. the consecutive unit # is 9499. It has the non-synchronized 4-speed and a 4.86 axle ratio. the color, M, is Meadow Green? Seems to be some conflicting breakdowns out there for color.
My question is has anyone figured out how to decipher the alpha-numeric production code? My truck is 52 F3 and the code, from the bottom right side of the glove box data plate, is SC 8004 B.
You'll drive yourself crazy trying to figure them out. I've got three that I've tried to sort out using the reference charts. Like yours, the letter and number sequences don't follow the formats given in the books. I've asked experts and they don't know either. Probably each plant had their own methods but no reference that I've found answers it.
Thanks anyway. I just got the truck, so I'm still trying to do research on it. The only data plate I have to go off of is on the glove box door. there isn't anything on the firewall.
I'll live with what I have. Now I get to take it apart.
I have had five 51 F1's all witht he firewall tag and glove box door tag and the matching number on the frame. I just bought a 52 F3 that has no firewall tag.
