Hey guys I dont know if there is a thread about this already but I noticed this while changing my oil the other day.
There is a tube about 2 feet long coming out of the top of my front differential on my 86 F150. The tube was just hanging over the axle dangling in the wind. I dont know if is supposed to be connected to something or not. Thanks guys.
sounds like the breather, I just got done adding breathers to my diffs a few weeks ago.
Keeps the nice warm axle from hitting water, expanding and sucking in that nice muddy cold water. I ran mind up high into the body, because you never know when you will have to ford a river lol
Axle breather tube, your rear should have one too!
I belive it is suppose to have a clip on the crossmember to attatch too.
The end of the tube should also face the ground.
The one in the rear comes out of the t-block for the brake lines. You should have a nipple sticking up out of the t-block. I can't remember the front exactly. The transfer case also has a rubber hose coming out of it on the top if you have 4x4.
