Tonight while driving I noticed my dash lights seemed kind of dim,, I didnt think much of it.... parked for a few hours, when I went to drive home they where dim again, then my radio (aftermarket) turned off. At this point I noticed my headlights where dim, and the truck eventually lost all power and lights, I was driving with no lights and the abs light came on for some reason.... as luck would have it, its 2am on a satuerday night while im coming home from a party with no lights,, but i made it about 2 miles home like that without getting pulled over.
Now the trucks dead in my driveway...do I just need new alternator, something more? Any easy way to determine?
The alternator is the only thing that would come to my mind that would be faulty and cause all that. My advice (From a parts counter guy at Kragen auto parts lol) is to take out the alternator and run it down to Kragen Auto Parts or Autozone and have it tested (Get the print out evaluation if possible) the whole testing and printing is free.
