fuel pump pics

I was going to change my mechanical fuel pump today and I took out the old and it doesnt look like the new pump. The arm is a different design. Anyone have any pics of the correct pump. I have checked carquest, autozone, and checker and they all look the same but not the same as the one I pulled.

Probably just a change in design since yours left the factory. I was at NAPA a couple weeks ago and there was a guy at the counter ahead of me with the same question. All catalog listings for all of the various quality/cost options had the same arm on them.

I jsut replaced mine last week. There the same, there is a difference in the arm though but the instructions show you that it is just a design change.

ive heard lots of stories about the new design of the arm and everytime ive read a thread about it they say to make sure and read the instructions and install it right are it can cause the arm to be snapped off. if im wrong about this im sure someone will chime in to correct me on this.

J tate is right. I called the Fedral mogule tech line when i got mine and it was an updated design the arms on the old ones are prone to snaping. If you hold them side by side you can tell the arms go to the same place. If you install it with the eccentric on the cam in the wrong possition it can cause the pin in the pump arm to come out then no more pumping. I belive the eccentric is suposed to be in the up position but not 100% on this as I had no idea about it when i put mine in Guess I got lucky or its waiting tell I'm in the middle of no where to brake. You may want to try and search for threads about pump replacement. Ore wait for Dave or Pete they should know.

The old arm was bent 90 degrees, the new one is almost straight.
There are directions in the box with the new one, follow the directions to the letter and you will be fine.

No instructions in my box. I looked at one from autozone and no instructions in that box either. Can anyone help me with instructions?
