hey all! i just finished installing an avic d3 in my 04 f350...so far so good, but i was wondering what you guys use so the unit doesn't slide all the way back into the dash. it seems pretty tight in the dash, but i can just imagine that vibrations and bumps over time will make the unit walk back into the dash. on another note, does anyone know if my truck should have the vss wire at the stock radio harness or is it in the passenger kick panel (i'm going to try the nav with out tapping the wire first). thanks in advance
I do belive there should be a bracket that screws to the headunit and to the dash somewhere around the headunit. Mine's on the bottom. This is what prevents the deck from sliding around. Atleast in my truck.
Also did you install the little box the deck slides and locks into? assuming you did, and you locked the bracket, as im going to call it, into the dash. There are little tabs that you fold out to catch on to the dash. Those hold the deck still.
I am talking from expierence here, but not much, ive only installed 2 decks before so your application could very well be much different than mine!
