I was planning on chaning out my t-stat after reading about cooling problems in this forum. Found some NOS Stant 333-192 T-stats on e-bay and was wondering if those would be OK or if I should just order new R-S 333-192 from flowkooler. Checked flowkooler's site and their encryption certificate expired in 2005. Not sure I want to enter my credit card info there
If it matters, I have a 1977 F-150 with a reworked 351M. Runs fine, just starts running warmer when I run over about 40 mph (based on factory temp gage). If I turn on the heater it'll bring the temp back down. But mostly it tries to keep creeping up. When the temp is past mid-way on the gage, the truck will try to run-on when I turn the switch off so I know it's not just a faulty gage. I did change out the water pump when I first bought it so it could be that, but I'm hoping the t-stat change will fix it.
From what I've read you have to be real careful about the design of the t-stat for the 351M. There are lots of recommendations for the 333-192 from Robertshaw. Can't find a parts store here that has it or has one built just like it so I was hesitant to buy anything else.
