My Ryobi cordless was garbage, at least the batteries were. Drill three or four 3/8" holes in 1/4" steel, and the battery was done. Not to mention it spun too slow to begin with.
The 14.4v Craftsman was ok, the batteries don't have a great life span, but it's decently torquey, and they give you two batteries to begin with.
Most drills now have a torque clutch adjustment.

Milwaukee is my vote, I have 2 18 volts & LOVE them. I had Craftman 19.2 volt & took it back because using it hard It had smoke coming out of the motor!?! Plus in my town there is a mikwaukee dealer & repair company. All I have ever done is replace the brush after using the Hell out of it

I almost bought the Milwalkee....very strudy construction. The only reason I went with the Makita is because it had a quicker charge time, otherwise very comparable.
