Vacuum Modulator

I have an 86 f350 C6 tranny behind a 460 carbed engine. Tranny has new filter and fluid.

does not shift into second until 18+ mph, won't shift into 3rd gear until 45+. This tranny WILL downshift immediately at 45- into second. It's frustrating.

Now I know you are all going to tell me it's the modulator of which I replaced however. How EXACTLY do you adjust it???? do you screw it all the way in and then back off a 1/4 turn or do you unscrew it all the way out and then turn it 1/4 turn in????

Is it possible the band just needs to be adjusted???

Start where you are at, and turn it 1/4 turn counterclockwise to make it shift earlier. If that's not enough, go another 1/4 turn.

Franklin is the man. It worked like a charm. Shifts smooth and as expected very nice now.

Thanks.

rbaker6336 is the man. It was in fact the kickdown linkage that needed adjusted. Shifts very nice now.

Thanks.

the way I always adjusted the linkage is to hold throttle wide open and adjust linkage to where it bottoms (all the way back) at that point
