i was on the highway the other day and noticed something that i am sure wasnt there before, and i havent noticed it at in town speeds, highway only.
seems that when cruising straight down the highway the steering wheel seems fine, but if you were to turn it to the left to just put enough pressure on it, but not enough to make the truck start to go left i have a little back and forth shake in the steering wheel. any ideas what this could be?
ahh yes i have this same problem. i was told that i could tighten the steering box up, but when i did it made no difference. so i took it back down to the guy that does my tires and alignments and told him to look it over. he checked it all out and said that every thing look ok, he said that because i just got new tires i needed to run 40 to 45 psi for about 400 to 450 miles until the tires get cut in. then go back up to 65 psi. so i am hoping that this fixes my problem, but i also thought about changing my steering stabilizer, i have a jeep that used to do the same thing until i changed the steerig stabilizer.
thanks for the replies, i dont think it is my tires i got new ones last september and have about 3-4K on them now, but i will check out the drag link sometime next week, i think i can change that myself, seems easy.

Don't count the tires out of the problem yet. One of them may have delaminated and you have a bulge. Lift the wheels off the ground and spin the tires to make sure they are perfectly round.

Excellent point and I should have elaborated more on my experience. After replacing my drag link I took it down for an alignment. After the alignment was complete I still had a slight steering shake - aprrox. 20% of what it was before the drag link replacement andit only happened from 45-55 mph. Although the new drag link fixed the bulk of the problem, I wound up buying 2 new front tires because one was cupped pretty bad.... after the tires, drag link & alignment all was good again, except for my wallet.....
