Finding TDC on Cleveland?
Dumb question I think......with the heads off how do you find out when the No 1 cylinder is on TDC on the compression stroke? The engine has the cam in and the dots line up on the sprockets but how do we know whether it is the right stroke?

If the timing chain marks line up you are there as far as the cam is concerned. Then get the distributor to line up on number one.

I concur with franklin2. Regardless of cam timing, the only time both valves are closed at TDC is at the top of the compression stroke.
