It's a known fact that the lie-o-meter will give false reading when the truck is programmed. As far as someone getting 24 on a 8k truck, I would highly doubt it. I do think you can push 20 mpg on the highway and I have done so. I am averaging around 18 on the highway and about 14.5 in town... Towing I am just under 11 mpg, towing 12k. Not to bad considering the hilly terrain I live in...

Good luck!!

I have a bone stock 05 350 and i've been getting b/t 16.0 - 16.5 mpg doing mixed driving and i'm hand calculating. I've had it just about a month and a half and the first 2 weeks i had i was getting about 12mpg and i couldn't figure out why. I decided to check the hubs one day and found they were locked on manual which burned my arsh. It went up to about 14.5mpg and then i started using diesel kleen in the gray bottle and the last 3 fill ups i've been in that 16 mpg range.

I too am trying to figure out what to do next to squeeze out some more mpg's but w/ fuel prices the way they are now, i'm wondering if it's even worth putting more money into it and just get out while i'm ahead!

I know it is hard to do (and not fun), but keep it at 60 or so on the highway and you can get 1-2 mpg improvement. Thought I would NEVER say it, but at $4.00 per gallon, this can add up to $300 per year.

As the folks are passing you, you can tell yourself you are saving up for the next mod ..................

(No negative rep points for this please!!!!!!!!! I only do it GOING to work.)

The truck has over 18k miles now but only 4+ are mine. With a full tank I remember getting over 20mpg by computer from Kingman to Vegas. I have never been able to duplicate that. When I put around town I'm getting around 12.5 or so. Mix in some urban freeways and that gets up to around 15.0. I've changed oil to Mobil 1, cleaned the EGR, using B5, and on my 2nd tank with grey diesel kleen. Changed filters and dewatered fuel system. My hubs are in auto and I drive like I've got a bowl of goldfish on the seat with me.

We're close to 3000 ft here in Vegas and I know I lose about 10% of the horsepower for ea 3k feet in alt. Wonder if this is causing the bad mpgs.

Opinions?

What are you paying for the B5? I usually fill up at one of the Sinclair staions in Henderson but they are around $3.90. So I filled up this morning at 7-Eleven on Maryland Pkwy and Sahara for $3.65. I would rather run the B5 but it's way too much right now.

I'll have to get a Sinclair card. Around town I get around 12.5 hand calculated. We travel to Orange County often and I set the cruise control at 72 to 73 mph and get 17.5 to 18. I used to drive it doing around 80 to 85 and I was only getting around 15.5 to 16 mpg.

I drove up to Bunkerville and back a few days ago. I didn't see anything like 17.5-18. Can the vacuume gauge on the air filter be trusted?

I'm not sure about the Vacuum gauge. What rear end do you have? 3.73 or 4.12? I have 3.73 in mine. I also use Power Service in the gray bottle on every fillup. I don't use a tuner, I want my engine to last. I don't have a lift or aftermarket exhaust. Just plain stock other than a couple of gauges and other minor things that don't affect fuel mileage.
