I just had a couple questions that probably have some simple answers...
#1 ULSD: Anyone having a problem with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel in their older rigs (I have a 2000 F250 7.3 PSD) I noticed crummy mileage, poor power and it seems to be messing with a bunch of seals (its leaking diesel from somewhere on warm-up)...this happening to anyone else ?
#2 BioDiesel: Anyone have any good info on BioDiesel? Pros and Cons ? Mileage ? PRICE ? Diesel is reaching $4.15 a gal here ! I also heard from a couple people that BioDiesel will gel-up big time in extreme cold ?
Well, that's it for now...I appreciate any and all of your advice !

The most common effect is the shrinkage of the fuel bowl drain valve o-rings. ULSD has reduced aromatics, so that reduction caused these o-rings to shrink up and expose a leak. Check the back of the fuel bowl, that's most likely the spot of your leak. As for mileage and power loss, you should see a 1-2% decrease, but that's about it. If it's more significant than that, you may have other problems. Boost and/or exhaust leaks are common, and will cause loss of power and mileage.

I personally prefer bio-diesel over any additive on the market. Just 2% bio has significantly more lubrication than any additive can provide. I've tried a variety of fuel additives in my truck, and none of them improved mileage or changed the sound of my engine. When I ran bio, mileage stayed the same, but the engine was noticeably quieter. In winter, it's best to stick with B20 or less (20% bio or less). Summer months you can run all the way up to B100 (100% bio).
