I`ve dug quite afew basements with my Bobcats, they`re especially handy in tight spaces like under a lifted house in a small yard.

It`s easy, start at the top and go down using a ramp area to go in and out of the excavation.

Smile Buying skidsteer

If you are looking to buy one, look at Thomas or Gehl with Kabota Engine very reliable And get tracks. Don't buy ones with rubber bolt on pads their junk. I used to work with retal equipment. AJ46

You lost me there Sherm...Digging a basement with a Bobcat isn`t as quick as with a large track hoe, pay-loader or a Cat while the price is competitive.
Bobcat skid steer loaders are by far the biggest seller in Saskatoon followed by some Case, New Holland, JD and even afew Cats. Not much in the way of other brands such as Thomas, Volvo or Gehl brands sold here.

Sometimes getting a pay loader, or a trackhoe to the place where you wanna dig the basement can be more hassle then its worth too. Those full sized excavators are pretty huge.

For sure you can, but that also increases digging time, compared to a skidsteer. (in the basment digging scenario)

more digging time means smaller wage or higher price. either way its less appealing!!
