Hey guys.. Just got a 6637 filter.. I was reading the other day that some guys have found a couple of different sizes ???????? Or was I misstakin ????
This one has the following measurements ......
11" X 8 1/2" not including the 4" flange for mounting the hose ! Is that the right size of filter... Just wanted to check before I go ripping out the stock air box etc ! Thats a big MO FO air filter !!!
As far as I know, all 6637s are the same size. Differant model trucks require differant mounting tactics, but all will fit. Most of us just removed the top part of the old air box and left the bottom part in. I was able to install with out any extra parts. or tubing.
I figured it would fit.. Just want to make sure before I ripped everything apart... I must have read the other comment about having a bigger filter... Someone wasn't able to get it in there and I think someone said " I wonder if he's got that bigger filter" Anyways... Probably gonna install tomorrow and listen to my turbo !!!
Chris...........Yes I've contacted Pete and I'll be ordering my cover as soon as I know everything is going to be okey dokey with my filter !!!
Anyways... Probably gonna install tomorrow and listen to my turbo !!!
It's amazing how much that piece of plastic hides. If you end up with a problem with engine drone, hang on. We're working on a cold air set up to get around that.
Chris... Is that what causes the engine droan... (no cold air) I'll probably make up an aluminum battery tray and cold air duct one day when I get motivated to do something creative !!! lol
I don't think it has to do with the cold air. That filter just lets a lot of noise back out of it. You can actually hear the turbo sucking air through the filter when you lean into the throttle. I never heard that with my stock box. The cold air set up just deflects the drone away from the cab I guess.
